1. Bernal Heights Dog Park
If you want to spend the day with your pawsome friend in a beautiful place, then Bernal Heights Park is for you! Quarry turned into a paradise has been the story of Bernal Heights Park—one of San Francisco’s most popular and breathtaking off-leash areas. With its 39 acres located at Folsom Street, your dog will love the wide-open space to play fetch, hike and relax, while enjoying the 360-panoramic view of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown, San Bruno Mountain, and the hills of the East Bay.
Location, hours and more information here.
2. Duboce Dog Park
Duboce Park, located between Duboce Triangle and Lower Haight, offers plenty of space for Rover to roam. The entire area including the Harvey Milk Arts Center was updated in 2008 and that renovation included substantial work on the dog play area. This park features both an off-leash dogs area and on-leash dog areas and is known for the social scene among parents, dog owners and other park visitors.
Location, hours and more information here.
3. Fort Funston
As the name implies, Fort Funston is all about fun — with 200-foot bluffs for spectacular views, miles of trails to roam, beaches to frolic, and wide open spaces to run — it’s definitely one of our favorite parks for you and Fido! Location, hours and more information here.
4. Lafayette Park
Located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood, this terraced park offers commanding views of the entire city and the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge plus an area for off-leash fun.
Location, hours and more information here.
5. Pine Lake Park
Pine Lake is one of only three natural lakes in San Francisco, so if nature is your thing, grab a leash and walk the trail surrounding the lake, enjoy some bird watching, explore the larger trail network that winds through Stern Grove, including a segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail, and find some new, four-legged friends at the off-leash area. Location, hours and more information here.
